Heritage
During her early days as an interior designer, whilst working in the US, Rachel met and worked with master colourist Donald Kaufman, her now father-in-law.
Rachel has been mentored and worked closely with Kaufman since meeting, learning the science and artistry of developing luxury paints.
Donald Kaufman Colour was founded in 1976 by Kaufman and his partner Taffy Dahl. Far reaching in influence and exposure, collaborations have included Philip Johnson and IMPEI, as well as shaping iconic spaces of their time from The Glass House, Studio 54, and the Obamas’ Oval Office.
Kaufman is a painter whose work is also represented in the Whitney and MOMA collection. His unique colour theory and treatment of colour has deeply informed Rachel’s own colour collection, creating a unique range of paint colours to enrich and shape interior projects.
Having developed colours with master colourist Don for many years, Rachel now develops her own bespoke paints for client projects with his input, under Rachel Chudley Colour.
Science & artistry combined
Enriched with the full spectrum of colour, Rachel Chudley paint is luminous.
Born of the Donald Kaufman theory of colour, we enhance interior spaces with the nuanced subtleties.
Luxury has been expressed through colour from the Lapis lazuli and the purple painted robes of regal and religious paintings to gilded/ lacquered interiors. However, it is the multilayered full spectrum of hues in the DNA of the paint that creates atmosphere.
Our paint colours are mixed in our workshop using up to 15 different pigment jars to create the luminous feel our clients fall in love with.
